Who is responsible for this website?

The owner of nejmiozturk.com and the person responsible for its content is Dr. Nejmi Öztürk, ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, who sees patients at HG Hospital in Kahramanmaraş, Türkiye. He prepares the medical content on the site himself or has it prepared under his direction, and he reviews and approves it before it is published.

Dr. Öztürk completed his medical degree at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine and his residency in ophthalmology at Ankara Atatürk Training and Research Hospital. He has 21 years of professional experience and has been seeing patients in the Department of Ophthalmology at HG Hospital in Kahramanmaraş since 2025. For a detailed CV, see the Dr. Nejmi Öztürk page.

The site belongs directly to the physician, not to a company. Outside services may be used for design and technical operation; however, the physician is responsible for the medical accuracy of the content and for its publication.

How is content prepared and reviewed?

The content on this site is prepared to inform patients and their relatives; it does not replace an examination or the opinion of a physician. The aim is for readers to learn about their condition, the treatment options, the expected outcome and the possible risks in plain language, and to come to their examination well prepared.

Every page goes through the following steps:

  1. Choosing the topic and the questions: The questions patients ask most often during examinations and the topics most searched for online are listed.
  2. Source review: Publications of the Turkish Ophthalmological Society, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the US National Eye Institute (NEI), together with current studies in peer-reviewed journals, are examined.
  3. Drafting: The text is written in plain language (the original is written in plain Turkish; the other language versions are prepared from the reviewed Turkish text), and everyday equivalents are added next to medical terms (for example, “clouding of the eye’s natural lens” for cataract). AI-assisted writing tools may be used when preparing the draft.
  4. Physician review: Dr. Nejmi Öztürk reviews every draft for medical accuracy, currency and balance; he adds missing information and removes incorrect or exaggerated statements. No text prepared with the help of AI is published without this review.
  5. Regulatory check: The text is checked for compliance with the rules on promotion and information in the health sector (see the “Legal framework” section below).
  6. Publication and follow-up: The page is published, its last update date is added and it is placed on a regular review schedule.

Balanced presentation is essential. Every treatment page clearly states who the method is not suitable for, as well as its risks and limitations; no success rate is promised, no certain outcome is claimed and no comparison is made with other physicians or institutions.

Source and evidence policy

Medical information is based on the guidelines of recognised professional bodies in the field and on peer-reviewed scientific publications. The main sources are the publications of the Turkish Ophthalmological Society (TOD), the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) and the National Eye Institute (NEI). The sources used are listed at the end of every treatment page.

Methods that are still at the research stage (for example, stem cell applications) are described not as a promise of treatment but together with the current level of evidence and with their limitations stated. Information on coverage by the Turkish Social Security Institution (SGK) is given in general terms; the conditions of coverage are clarified at the examination.

No device, drug or lens brand names are used on the pages; methods are described by their generic names. This choice is both a regulatory requirement and a way of keeping the reader’s decision-making free from commercial influence.

Update and correction policy

Every page shows a “last updated” date. Content is updated when the relevant guidelines change, when the legislation changes, when new and strong evidence is published or when the details of where and how patients are seen change. Even if none of these occurs, every page is reviewed at least once every 12 months.

If you notice incorrect, incomplete or outdated information on a page, you can write to info@nejmiozturk.com. Reports are reviewed by the physician; if the error is confirmed, the text is corrected and the page’s update date is renewed.

Advertising, sponsorship and independence

No advertising or sponsored content is published on this site. Content decisions are not influenced by drug, device or lens manufacturers or by any other commercial organisation.

  • No patient testimonials, thank-you messages or statements of satisfaction are published.
  • No information on prices, fees or payment terms is published; fee information is given by the hospital after the examination.
  • No brand names of devices, drugs or lenses are used.
  • No comparisons are made with other physicians or healthcare institutions; no statements of superiority are used.
  • External links are provided for information only; no affiliate links are used.
